I was in Dumbledore's Army. Not this year, but back two years ago when Potter started it to begin with. I know I was kind of an arse about things then. And now. I know, I get it.
Back then, it was really about learning Defense since Merlin knows Umbridge wasn't teaching us anything. You-Know-Who may have come back, Death Eaters were breaking out of Azkaban and we were being taught to read in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Back then, it made sense. Excuse the pun, but it was a last line of defense. My sisters were first years then and it was on me to protect them more than it was on my parents, for once. Not that my parents would have approved of Dumbledore's Army, even though I know I couldn't have pulled an EE on the DaDA OWL without it.
But anyway, I was in it then, and then I wasn't this year. Probably that was a liability to them but I never told anybody anything. I didn't rejoin for a reason, though. The DA used to be about learning to defend ourselves and sure, maybe sticking it to Umbridge a bit. But it wasn't about painting on walls and getting yourself hexed and punished and suicide missions. It wasn't about making yourself such a target that your professors actually try to kill you, forcing you to hide in a room with no food for months.
And look, everybody who thinks the DA is cowards for running and hiding didn't know the whole story.
I never rejoined and I know I'm a coward for it. I ran from the fight and my friend stayed and got killed. And I don't know if I could have made any difference, I really don't. But I'm never going back anyway.
And I'm sorry.
But hey, the war is over. Saint Potter won it after all. It's time to fucking celebrate. |

Sprout talked to me this morning. I'm taking over for Megan as Quidditch captain.
Save congratulations. I don't want them. We're going to keep going to give the House something to cheer for but I'm not trying to replace Megan. We're just going to play. I've got some ideas I want to try and we're sticking to the same practice schedule, at least for now.
With Olivia gone, we don't have a reserve. I'll be holding tryouts for Keeper later this week.

Ok so the other day? Lady Carrow was freaking out at Trelawny outside of History of Magic. I think she was threatening her until she got a good prophecy. She seemed pretty freaked out over the whole thing. I almost didn't say anything but I thought maybe your stupid suicide club might want to know.
My father owled me today telling me he's drafting a letter to the Hogwarts Board of Governors saying he's frustrated with the changes in curriculum because he believes it will hurt my chances of good NEWT scores. Not for, you know, any other reason. Seriously. And as we all know, this school administration takes really well to criticism and people who disagree with them.
